Logo: Youth Arise (Sierra Leone)

Youth Arise, Sierra Leone is an organisation for young people dealing with discrimination and other issues around sexual orientation.
They needed a logo that showed their energy while appealing to the youth of Sierra Leone. The logo needed to match:
Energy
Movement
Optimism
Youthfulness
Playfulness
Chosen logo:
Soft edged font with the “A” forming an upwards arrow implying rising.
The lighter blue is the same colour as the national flag of Sierra Leone. Red was chosen for the word “arise” as it is more striking and powerful.
The “Y” and “A” together form an abstract pattern that can be used as a logo mark on its own.

In this version a triangle is pointing up, to amplifying the “rise” in the name. The letters above are also staggered to show the upward force.
