Inspiration: Roadside art

Inspired by yesterday's protests in Cape Town, I shot these 2 images on the way home from the city. Though the location of these photos were in the suburbs, far from the city, I was reminded of the smoke billowing up from behind the castle of good hope and and the protesters marching on the freeway bridge. My scene is in stark contrast to the swarm of people seen earlier in the day, with only empty streets of rust and dirt. The time I shot these was around 18h30 as the sun was setting, giving it some long shadows and the color versions have that golden glow.  I chose to stick to Black & White since my focus was on the texture of the road, the bridge's decay and the emptiness.
